Hysterical Dinnertime

Summer Fun

After an enjoyable trip down South to visit all the relatives, we returned to Maine and brought summer weather back with us. Sweaty! But mostly pleasant. Here are a few things Ben is doing to beat the heat.

Honing his artistic skills on the back porch:

Trying out a new pair of shades:

Having hysterics while smearing melted chocolate chips on the wainscotting:

Playing in the wading pool and picnicking:

And of course, hugging blankie. Because it's never too hot for blankie.

Spring Fever

What do you do when it rains and rains and seems it'll never stop?

Rearrange the family room furniture (include a couch fort):
Sit in the bookcase and eat cookies with a friend:
Revamp the play space (theme: "alphabet obsession"):

What do you do when the sun finally comes out?

Go to a parade!

Spellbound

For a couple of years, Ben has been addicted to Starfall.com, a phonics and reading website that I highly recommend for children of all ages. Lately his favorite bit is a video about "vowel pairs." This morning, without prompting, he spelled out with his letter magnets the words GOAT, MAID, and SPRAY. Check him out! I prompted him a bit in this video because he got shy for the camera.

I used to think stories about Mozart composing pieces at age 4 were outrageous, and now that doesn't seem quite so far-fetched. (Hey, I'm proud. Can't help it.)

Early Spring

No, not here in Maine. We had a snowstorm yesterday. However, last week Ben and I were in Florida, enjoying the mild weather and blooming azaleas. Here are a few shots I took with my dad's camera of Ben enjoying one of the excellent playgrounds in their neighborhood. My favorite is Ben's version of 007.
